Hi, I'm Maya. I'm a children's book illustrator (and sometimes author). My characters are unpolished on purpose, I want their warmth to feel real, not composed. And illustrating fleeting emotions feels like catching something before it disappears.
I also love drawing nature, which often speaks for what a character can't say out loud. I enjoy working on playful and humorous stories, too. I often laugh while I'm drawing, and I hope kids will laugh too, poring over my illustrations.
My work has been recognized by the international children's book community, including: Bologna Children's Book Fair (2025), The Original Art Selection, Society of Illustrators, New York (2026 & 2024), and others (see the list below).
Born in the former USSR, I grew up in Israel before eventually settling in Berlin, where I now live. I love cycling, spending time in nature, and sketching strangers in cafes and on the subway.
